Pascha (pronounced *pass-ka*) Candle was started in 2023 with the desire to recycle retired Paschal (Easter) candles from Catholic churches. Our first batch of candles was created as gifts for adults who had just received their Sacraments of Initiation at the 2023 Easter Vigil.

Each year, most Catholic parishes receive a new Paschal candle, which is first lit at the Easter Vigil. It continues to be used throughout the Easter season and during baptisms and funerals for the rest of the year. Eventually, parishes are left with partially burned candles, often with a significant amount of wax remaining.

Because these candles have been blessed, Catholic tradition calls for them to be treated with reverence. Traditionally, blessed candles are disposed of by burning or burial, but neither option is always practical for the average parish.

As a result, many of these retired candles end up tucked away in the back of a closet, parish office, or sacristy, sometimes for years.

We have set out to rescue and reuse these candles, giving them new life and allowing their wax to be burned respectfully and prayerfully in your home.
